RBI reports 20% growth in industrial bank credit for July
Data released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) from 41 major scheduled commercial banks, which accounts for roughly 95% of all non-food credit, indicates that non-food bank lending increased by 19.1% year-on-year by July 31, 2026. This is a significant rise from the 9.9% growth recorded during the same time last year. Additionally, lending for personal loans climbed by 16.2%, up from 11.9% in the previous year, pointing to a broader expansion in credit activity.
