Rare Mooty fruit successfully farmed by Dakshina Kannada resident
A resident of Dakshina Kannada has managed to grow the rare Mooty fruit, a species native to the Western Ghats that the IUCN currently classifies as Near Threatened. Three years after he planted over 100 saplings, the trees are now producing fruit. This wild, nutrient-dense fruit develops right on the trunk and needs very little care to thrive.
