Pune introduces MH-61 series following depletion of MH-12 registration numbers
Pune has begun transitioning to the MH-61 series for vehicle registrations, as all possible combinations for the MH-12 code have been used up. This new series serves as a stopgap measure, given that the Pune RTO currently manages over 44.88 lakh active vehicle registrations. Officials are presently developing an updated system that may allow the city to retain its well-known MH-12 identity.
