President signs bill granting Vande Mataram same legal protection as National Anthem
On Tuesday, President Droupadi Murmu approved the Vande Mataram Bill, which provides the National Song with the identical legal safeguards as the National Anthem 'Jana Gana Mana'. Last month, the Parliament cleared the Prevention of Insults to National Honour (Amendment) Bill, 2026, to amend the original Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971.
