Prashant Kishor breaks BJP's 31-year hold on Bihar's Bankipur seat
Jan Suraaj Party chief Prashant Kishor has snapped the BJP's 31-year unbeaten run in Bankipur, Bihar, after his candidacy proved too strong for the BJP's Neeraj Kumar. Local residents were seeking a shift in leadership, leading voters from the BJP's traditional upper-caste and OBC groups, as well as the RJD's Muslim-Yadav support base, to back him. Rather than focusing on religion or caste, Kishor centered his campaign on fundamental concerns like employment and education.
