Powai Lake spills over following intense Mumbai rains
Powai Lake in Mumbai started overflowing at approximately 5.30 am due to persistent heavy rainfall, although the city's total water reserves are still quite low at 7.18 per cent. Data from the BMC indicates that the water levels in all seven of Mumbai's reservoirs are currently below the expected levels. Even with this local overflow, the overall water supply remains a worry because of the irregular distribution of the monsoon.
