Piyush Goyal encourages Japanese companies to source steel from India
During a business roundtable held in Japan on Monday, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal invited Japanese companies to increase their steel imports from India. He highlighted that India applies a 12% safeguard duty on lower-quality steel, which is significantly lower than the roughly 50% tariffs set by the US, UK, and EU. Goyal is currently on a visit to Japan through August 27, accompanied by a massive delegation of 200 business representatives, the largest ever sent by India.
