Over 2,200 Mumbai manholes remain open following fatal accident
According to an Indian Express report, approximately 2,205 sewer manholes in Mumbai are still missing protective covers or safety grills. This comes just days after a 55-year-old man died from falling into an open sewer. The situation persists even though authorities had set a May 31 deadline for installing safety grills on all manholes. The majority of these hazardous, uncovered manholes are located in the South Mumbai area.
