Chloe Bakalar, who led AI ethics at OpenAI, has stepped down from her position less than a year into the role, as the company faces increasing pressure regarding its AI progress. Bakalar, formerly the chief ethicist at Meta, joined the creators of ChatGPT last August and quietly exited the firm last month. Her departure adds to a series of recent resignations among top safety and alignment leaders, such as Joshua Achiam and Johannes Heidecke.
