Zabihullah Amiri, the head of the Information and Culture Department for Afghanistan's Badakhshan province, was fatally shot by two gunmen on Tuesday. The attack occurred as he was commuting to his office close to Fayzabad, the provincial capital. While his security detail managed to shoot and kill one of the attackers, authorities are currently searching for the second suspect. As of now, no organization has come forward to claim responsibility for the incident.
