Odisha and Chhattisgarh to resolve Mahanadi water issue following Centre's intervention
The BJP-led governments of Odisha and Chhattisgarh have committed to finding a resolution for the Mahanadi water conflict, following pressure from the Centre to reach a consensus. Following a discussion led by Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Paatil, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi stated that the matter is expected to be settled by Diwali. Odisha has claimed that the construction of eight barrages by Chhattisgarh has negatively impacted the flow of water into its territory.
