Norway holds Russian vessel following $4.2 billion Ukrainian legal claim

Authorities in Norway have impounded a Russian government-owned vessel in the Arctic to uphold a $4.2 billion compensation ruling in favor of Naftogaz, Ukraine's state energy provider. The Ukrainian company has been seeking damages from Russia since 2016, following the seizure of its assets in Crimea after the region was annexed by Russia in 2014. A court has directed Russia to settle the payment, which also includes accrued interest and associated legal expenses.
