NIA accuses Hurriyat leaders of provoking 1996 funeral mob
On Friday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed charges against six Hurriyat leaders, including three who are now deceased, for inciting a crowd during a terrorist's funeral in 1996. According to the NIA, the violence was part of a calculated plot by Hurriyat members to leverage the funeral to build public backing and stir up unrest. The six individuals were charged under the provisions of the 1989 Ranbir Penal Code.
