New sea slug species honors Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha

Spanish scientist Jesus Ortea has identified a new type of marine mollusc and named it Aldisa vozinhai, in tribute to Cape Verde’s 2026 FIFA World Cup star, Vozinha. This tiny, four-millimetre sea slug was discovered in the waters around Guadeloupe and Havana. The 40-year-old goalie gained fame after recording seven saves during Cape Verde’s scoreless opening match against Spain. Since the tournament began, his Instagram account has exploded, growing from 50,000 followers to 28.5 million.
