New detailed photo shows peanut-shaped asteroid 100 million km away

Japan's Hayabusa2 spacecraft has captured a high-resolution image of an unusual peanut-shaped asteroid while flying past it at a distance of approximately 100 million kilometers from Earth. The photograph features Torifune, a space rock measuring about 450 meters across. Researchers suggest that Torifune is a contact binary, a type of asteroid created when two distinct rocky objects moved toward each other and fused together slowly billions of years ago.
