A team of scientists at Sungkyunkwan University in South Korea has created a catalyst capable of transforming carbon dioxide (CO₂) into ethanol via electricity. By placing copper and zinc atoms side-by-side on a carbon base, the catalyst reached a 69% Faradaic efficiency for ethanol, measuring the portion of electrical charge successfully used to generate the target chemical.
