NASA creates AI tool to forecast solar storms 12 hours in advance
Researchers at NASA are employing artificial intelligence to identify concealed magnetic patterns deep under the Sun's exterior. A machine-learning system created by the COFFIES (Consequence of Fields and Flows in the Interior and Exterior of the Sun) team is capable of identifying developing active zones up to 12 hours before they actually show up. This study may lead to improved early alerts for solar flares.
