Nagchandreshwar Temple in Ujjain welcomes visitors once a year on Nag Panchami

On the occasion of Nag Panchami, a large number of devotees arrived at Ujjain's Nagchandreshwar Temple for darshan. This is the only day of the year that the temple doors are thrown open. Mythology suggests that King Takshak practiced penance here to gain immortality, eventually being granted a boon by Lord Shiva. It is said that he lived at this holy location. The yearly opening of this temple is a long-standing custom associated with the Mahakaleshwar Temple.
