Mumbai: 4 BMC officials suspended following man's death in open manhole
The BMC has suspended four of its officials following the death of 55-year-old Aslam Isak Shaikh, who fell into an uncovered manhole while drain maintenance was underway in the Sakinaka area of Mumbai. Additionally, the civic authority declared a compensation of ₹10 lakh for the victim's family. Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar has instructed the state government to pursue further action beyond just suspending the staff.
