MP police detain activist on 14-day hunger strike over Ken-Betwa river project
Amit Bhatnagar, the leader of the opposition to the Ken-Betwa river linking project, was taken into police custody in Madhya Pradesh following a 14-day indefinite hunger strike. His detention, along with that of several other protesters, brought an end to the two-week demonstration against the ₹44,605-crore initiative. The protesters have raised concerns regarding issues with land acquisition, the rehabilitation process, and the compensation provided to families impacted by the project.
