MP High Court directs government to assist in funding 3-year-old's rare disease treatment
The Madhya Pradesh High Court has directed both the Central and state governments to provide financial support for the medical care of a three-year-old girl diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 2, a rare neuromuscular condition. The matter involves Anika Sharma, whose legal plea noted that the necessary injections for her treatment are priced at approximately ₹9.55 crore. So far, public fundraising efforts have successfully collected nearly ₹8 crore.
