According to a report by The Hindu, three petrol pump owners have alleged that the water-attracting property of ethanol is leading to water contamination in E20 fuel during the monsoon. They also claimed that similar problems occur in coastal regions because of high humidity, pointing out that existing underground storage tanks are not built to handle ethanol blends.
