Meta boosts child safety measures following government compliance pressure
According to an NDTV Profit report, Meta is intensifying its work to remove child sexual abuse content from its apps while engaging in ongoing dialogues with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). These discussions are centered on blocking harmful content, specifically ensuring that material already identified as problematic does not reappear. The government has cautioned that social media companies that do not follow Indian regulations risk losing their safe-harbour status, though it clarified that its goal is not to impose censorship.
