Massachusetts 12-year-old creates tech to turn footsteps into power
Ahmed Abdelsalam, a 12-year-old student from Massachusetts, has built a system called VERDA that turns daily movement into functional electricity. This technology traps kinetic energy from walking and other motions, transforming it into power that can be used for practical purposes. Thanks to this innovation, Ahmed has been named one of the 10 finalists for the 2026 3M Young Scientist Challenge.
