Manipur orders 3-day school shutdown due to NRC protests
On Wednesday, the Manipur administration declared that all schools and colleges across the state will remain closed from August 20 to 22. Officials cited the current law and order climate as the reason for this decision. This move follows ongoing demonstrations in the state, where protesters are calling for the National Register of Citizens (NRC) to be updated prior to the start of any Census work. These demands also led to the announcement of a 48-hour strike.
