Maharashtra issues notices to 1,268 drivers over Marathi language proficiency

Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik announced that 1,268 commercial vehicle operators, primarily taxi and auto-rickshaw drivers, received notices on Thursday for failing to demonstrate sufficient Marathi language skills during a statewide inspection. Sarnaik stated that these drivers have been granted a one-month grace period to improve their proficiency. If they fail to do so, their driving badges will face a three-month suspension.
