Maharashtra initiates audit of church and missionary lands following ₹300 crore scam
The Maharashtra administration has directed a comprehensive audit of all land held by churches and Christian missionary groups across the state, following a reported ₹300 crore land scam in Nashik. This review aims to confirm ownership documentation, track land transfers, and identify any unauthorized dealings. Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule stated that the process, which will examine records dating back to the British period, is expected to be finished in three months.
