Maharashtra government to provide insurance for 1.6 lakh Dahi Handi participants
The Maharashtra government, under the leadership of CM Devendra Fadnavis, has declared insurance protection for 1.6 lakh 'govindas' taking part in the 2026 Dahi Handi celebrations. Every participant will receive a ₹10 lakh insurance policy covering scenarios such as death, the loss of two eyes or two limbs, or total permanent disability. Additionally, a ₹5 lakh insurance benefit is set for those who suffer the loss of a single eye or limb.
