Following backlash regarding intense flooding during the initial heavy monsoon showers, the Maharashtra administration has introduced a ₹13,000 crore strategy to manage floods. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that 370 locations susceptible to flooding have been marked, and a new mechanism is being designed to drain waterlogged areas in under half an hour. He further noted that Mumbai recorded approximately 90% of its typical July rainfall within just the first six days of the month.
