Madras HC: Daughter's property rights remain intact despite mother's remarriage
The Madras High Court has declared that a widow getting remarried does not strip her late husband's daughter of her claim to his portion of joint family assets. Although a widow may lose her inheritance rights upon remarriage, this change in status does not impact the legal entitlements of other Class I heirs, including the daughter. The court delivered this verdict while presiding over the case of Venkatesan, confirming that his daughter is entitled to inherit his full share of the family property.
