Lilian Weng returns to OpenAI shortly after leaving Thinking Machines
Lilian Weng, a co-founder of the AI startup Thinking Machines, has returned to OpenAI following a brief departure prompted by health concerns. A company representative confirmed that Weng, who formerly held the role of Vice President of research and safety at OpenAI, will now head a high-level group tasked with speeding up internal research. Her return follows a wave of exits at Thinking Machines, where only two of the original six co-founders are still employed.
