Kurdish female soldiers push for position in Syrian security apparatus

The Kurdish YPJ, known worldwide for their fight against the Islamic State, are currently in discussions with Syria's new administration to secure a formal military role. Their initial request to be integrated as an independent brigade was turned down. Following the disbanding of the SDF, the YPJ is now engaging with the Syrian interior ministry to explore joining special operations units.
