Kolkata government schools to serve 'Satvik' meals; eggs to be provided on the side
Starting August 1, ISKCON is set to supply 'Satvik' midday meals to all government and government-aided schools across Kolkata, with boiled eggs being served to students as a separate addition. West Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari stated, "This measure is taken to ensure that our students receive a complete, protein-rich diet." The decision follows recent controversy sparked by claims that the schools would exclusively serve vegetarian food.
