Karnataka: 22 acres of land recovered from landfill to be developed as green space
The central government has successfully cleared 22 acres of land from a 35-acre waste dump in Raichur, Karnataka, following the processing of 62,252 metric tonnes of garbage. As part of the Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban 2.0 initiative, this recovered area is now being transformed into a green zone, which will feature a Miyawaki forest spanning 5 to 7 acres. To create a sustainable environment, officials have already planted 60,000 saplings at the site.
