Kalaburagi farmers struggle as Bhima river runs dry

Due to a poor monsoon season, the Bhima River has almost completely dried up, causing significant trouble for thousands of farmers in the Kalaburagi district of Karnataka. Essential crops like sugarcane, urad, and moong are dying because of the lack of water. Local farmers are now calling on the government to step in quickly, provide financial compensation, and arrange for water to be released from the Ujjani Dam in Maharashtra to stop additional damage to their harvests and avoid further economic crisis.
