July freight traffic for Indian Railways climbs 9% to 141.3 MT

In July 2026, Indian Railways saw its freight loading volume reach 141.3 million tonnes, marking a 9% increase compared to the 129.7 MT recorded during the same month last year. Breaking down the figures, iron ore shipments jumped by 22.2%, fertilizer transport grew by 12%, and both coal and food grain movements saw an 11.5% rise. Additionally, the supply of domestic coal to power stations climbed by 20%, contributing to an 8% boost in freight earnings, which brought in an extra ₹1,137 crore.
