In a suicide note attributed to former TMC MLA Asish Banerjee, who was discovered dead at a party office, he wrote, "I never got involved in corruption...Entering politics was a mistake." The close associate of Mamata Banerjee also urged his relatives to stay away from a political career. He claimed that there were efforts to "humiliate" and "malign" his reputation.
