Japanese national gets ₹75,000 payout 7 years after 19-day Bengaluru jail stint

A Japanese citizen who traveled to Bengaluru to study English has been awarded ₹75,000 in compensation by the Karnataka government, seven years after he spent 19 days behind bars. The Karnataka State Human Rights Commission determined that the man was held in custody without cause following a physical dispute with a teacher. He had been taken into police custody on bailable charges.
