Japan considering Iranian oil imports after 7-year hiatus

According to a Reuters report, Iran has started discussions to restart oil exports to Japan, contingent on a 60-day waiver from US sanctions. Japanese companies interested in the deal are pushing for an extended waiver period and guarantees regarding the security of vessels, given the ongoing instability in the Strait of Hormuz. Japan stopped purchasing Iranian crude in 2019 following the implementation of stricter US sanctions.
