IUML defends cleric's controversial remarks on women staying home
The IUML, an ally of the Congress, has come out in support of Sunni Muslim scholar Kanthapuram AP Aboobacker Musliyar, describing his statement that women ought to stay at home as a 'scholarly expression.' Panakkad Thangal, the state president of the IUML, remarked that the cleric likely intended to advocate for the security and well-being of women. Musliyar had previously claimed that allowing women to appear on public stages leads to 'great destruction.'
