IRCTC: Nearly 30% of travelers opt out of prepaid meals to cut costs
IRCTC management estimates that as many as 30% of train travelers are choosing not to include prepaid meals when purchasing tickets to avoid extra catering fees. Rahul Himalian, the Chairman and Managing Director of IRCTC, noted that passengers are increasingly choosing to skip these meals to save money. Even so, catering remained the company's top revenue source, with earnings in that sector climbing 33.9% compared to the same period last year during Q1 FY27.
