Iran warns of closing additional key shipping routes
Following the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran has issued a warning that it may block other export paths used by the United States and its partners. This move follows the US decision to reinstate a naval blockade against Iranian ports. Furthermore, Houthi rebels in Yemen, who are supported by Iran, have warned they might block the Bab el-Mandeb passage, a development that could push oil costs as high as $200 per barrel.
