Iran and Oman reach Strait of Hormuz agreement, link security to US blockade
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei announced on Saturday that Iran and Oman have finalized a deal for a secure shipping lane through the Strait of Hormuz following three weeks of negotiations. Baghaei cautioned, however, that complete security in the vital waterway is impossible as long as the US blockade persists. Tehran had shut down the passage in response to the US-Israeli strikes on Iran that occurred on February 28.
