India's wholesale inflation climbs in June, defying oil price dip

India saw its wholesale inflation rate increase to 9.87% in June, up from 9.68% in May, surpassing the 9.15% forecast by economists. This rise was fueled by a new jump in food costs and ongoing pressure on manufacturing expenses, which offset the decline in fuel inflation. On a year-on-year basis, wholesale food prices climbed 6.14% in June, following a 4.49% increase in May. Meanwhile, inflation for fuel and power decreased to 27.41% during the same month.
