India's retail inflation remains over RBI's 4% target for two consecutive months

In July, India's retail inflation reached 4.45%, marking the second straight month it has exceeded the Reserve Bank of India's 4% threshold. This rise was primarily fueled by food inflation, which climbed to 5.24%, along with significant increases in personal care and miscellaneous items at 14.77%, restaurant services at 7.72%, and paan, tobacco, and intoxicants at 4.79%. This July figure represents the peak inflation level recorded in the 2026 series.
