India's foreign exchange reserves record major weekly surge

According to Reserve Bank of India figures, the nation's foreign exchange reserves experienced their most significant weekly increase since January. As of August 7, the total reserves climbed by $14.1 billion, reaching a four-month peak of $707 billion. This growth was primarily driven by a $9.9-billion weekly boost in the RBI's holdings, attributed to the FCNR(B) program. Additionally, gold reserves grew to $108.73 billion, occurring shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi advised against purchasing gold.
