Indian and Australian researchers break decades-old limit in heat-to-electricity conversion

A team of researchers from India and Australia has broken a long-standing physics limit in the process of turning heat into electricity. By developing engineered semiconductor films, they managed to produce a thermoelectric voltage that is more than 1,000 times greater than what is normally observed in inorganic semiconductors. This breakthrough paves the way for a new class of highly sensitive temperature sensors, heat detectors, and quantum sensing technologies.
