India unveils experimental 'smart' drug as potential chemotherapy alternative

The government has introduced a new experimental cancer treatment, RK-251, which has the potential to serve as a substitute for conventional chemotherapy. This "smart" medication is engineered to activate exclusively within cancerous cells, ensuring that healthy tissue remains unaffected. The drug was created through a collaboration between Dr. Asis Bala of the Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IASST) and Dr. KP Bhabak from IIT-Guwahati.
