India to lead in AI applications rather than chip manufacturing: Nandan Nilekani
Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani stated that India is poised to emerge as the global leader for AI use cases instead of becoming a hub for semiconductor chips. He noted that the West is currently prioritizing AI infrastructure, such as larger models, increased chip production, and more data centers. Nilekani explained that as this infrastructure becomes a commodity, the real value will move toward the application layer, an area where India's digital ecosystem and massive scale provide a significant global edge.
