India has seen its solar power capacity jump from nearly 3 GW in 2014 to 162.15 GW by June 30, 2026, establishing solar as the nation's primary renewable energy contributor. Simultaneously, the capacity for producing solar modules has climbed to approximately 172 GW. With 37 GW of new solar capacity installed throughout 2025, India has moved past the US to secure its spot as the second-largest market for solar growth worldwide.
